Harry Kane finished with 42, having scored the lone goal for Tottenham Hotspur as they lost 3-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Antoine Griezmann finished the year with 40 for Atlético Madrid and France.
Of Messi’s 51 goals, 4 were with Argentina and the remaining 47 with Barcelona. Ronaldo scored 6 for Portugal and 43 for his clubs in 2018, Juventus and Real Madrid.
Messi also finished as the top assist provider in Europe with 26 for club and country. His Barcelona teammate Luis Suárez finished second with 24, tied with Lyon’s Memphis Depay.
