Champions League: Pirlo names club that’ll win trophy this season on one condition
Italy legend, Andrea Pirlo, has disclosed that Juventus can win the Champions League this season only if they don’t repeat what they did against Real Madrid in 2017.
Juventus were defeated 4-1 by Real Madrid in the Champions League final last two seasons.
But, Pirlo believes that Max Allegri’s men have the perfect mix of qualities required to win the Europe top-flight trophy this campaign.
Juventus will tackle Ajax in the Champions League quarter-final next month after defeating Atletico Madrid in the last 16, a few weeks ago.
“I don’t think Juve’s supremacy is bad for Italy. It forces the other to raise their level,” Pirlo told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Juventus’ target is Europe now. They have changed their mentality. Ronaldo decided to change his life at 33.
“It means he had great motivations and he settled in well very quickly. In a season, there is always a turnaround, a perfect game that changes the season.
“I think Juve can physically destroy Ajax, it was a good draw. Ajax beat Real Madrid but Real were as unorganized as ever and that’s rare.
“It won’t happen with Juve. Juventus can win the Champions League provided that they won’t repeat what they did in Madrid.”
