Argentina manager makes huge Messi claim after performance V Ecuador
Several members of the Argentine national team have been speaking about Lionel Messi today after his brilliant performance against Ecuador.
The forward scored a hat-trick to seal the countries place at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, something which was at risk.
That was until the Barcelona star stepped up and did the business when it mattered most, single-handedly taking his side through.
Now, Jorge Sampaoli has also explained that ‘football owes Messi a World Cup’ as they look to finally break their big stage curse.
“The fact is that football owes him a World Cup and we have the chance to help him make this possible in Russia,”he explained.
“It would have been illogical that the most important tournament in the world doesn’t have Messi.”
“Messi is the best player ever and this was a triumph for the players.”
“In the group chat, we said that we had to take Messi to the World Cup and fortunately that has happened.”
‘The dwarf was fantastic’
The award for the strangest nickname goes to Angel Di Maria after he claimed that ‘the drawf’ [Messi] was brilliant v Ecuador.
“The dwarf was fantastic as he was in the previous games,” he explained.
“He is amazing, the best by a long way and it is down to him that Argentina are at the World Cup.”
“We have to help him so that he plays how he can. We did that and for that reason, he felt comfortable.”
Messi feared the worst
While the Argentine spearheaded the passage of the nation through to the World Cup, even he feared at one point.
There was one fear that Messi had if Argentina would have missed out on a place at the World Cup.
