No doubt former president of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, were unarguably one of the most popular presidential couple the country has ever had. Many are yet to get over the hilarious statements of the the ex-first lady.

In 2015, he lost the presidential election to President Muhammadu Buhari becoming the first sitting Nigerian president to concede electoral defeat.

The couple who have been married for several years met when Jonathan concluded his M.Sc program and focused on his job as a lecturer at the College of Education, in Rivers state.

He was preparing for his doctorate degree. At that time, he taught students reading for the Nigerian Certificate of Education (NCE) and amongst those ladies was Patience Ebifaka Oba.

According to Nigerian Monitor, Jonathan approached Patience on campus one day and she responded positively to his suggestion of them being friends. The duo embarked on a period of courtship with both families giving their firm consent. Their union including their courtship lasted for more than two decades before their union finally took place at the marriage registry in Yenagoa. The family has been blessed with children.
